Trail Builders, Inc.
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Trail Builders, Inc. (“Trail Builders,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information in connection with trailbuildersinc.org and the Lab.
Effective date: August 21, 2026
1. Who we are
Trail Builders, Inc. is a United States nonprofit corporation recognized as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This website is operated at trailbuildersinc.org.
For privacy inquiries, contact admin@trailbuildersinc.org.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in the following limited circumstances:
- Information you submit. If you complete a contact, volunteer, or similar form, we receive the fields you provide, which may include your name, email address, and message.
- Lab practice content. If you use optional coaching or feedback features in the Lab, the text you enter may be transmitted to our systems solely to generate a response. Practice exercises that run entirely in your browser are not sent to us unless a feature expressly submits them.
- Device-stored Lab data. The Lab may store a display name and learning progress in your browser’s local storage so you can continue on the same device.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider may automatically receive standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, and requested pages as part of operating the website.
You are not required to create an account to use the Lab or this website.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- operate and maintain the website and the Lab;
- respond to inquiries and volunteer or partnership requests;
- provide optional Lab coaching or feedback when you request it;
- remember Lab progress on your device; and
- protect the security and integrity of our services.
We do not use personal information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information.
4. Information stored on your device
Certain Lab preferences and progress are stored locally in your browser. This information is not automatically transmitted to Trail Builders. Clearing this site’s stored data in your browser settings, or using a different device or browser, will remove or reset that information.
5. Third-party services
We use unaffiliated service providers to operate portions of the site. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies:
- Formspree — delivers form submissions to our team.
- Givebutter — processes donations and related donor records when you choose to give.
- Google Fonts — may load typefaces when you visit a page.
- Web hosting. The site is hosted on third-party infrastructure that may process technical logs.
Links to LinkedIn, X, Substack, Discord, or other third-party sites take you to services we do not control. Their privacy practices apply once you leave trailbuildersinc.org.
6. Donations
If you donate, payment card data, billing details, and donor records are collected and processed by Givebutter, not by Trail Builders’ website forms. Please review Givebutter’s terms and privacy policy before completing a gift. Trail Builders may receive donor name, contact information, gift amount, and related acknowledgment data from Givebutter in order to issue receipts and steward gifts.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers on these pages. The Lab uses local browser storage as described above. Third-party services listed in this Policy may set their own cookies or similar technologies when you use those services.
8. Children’s privacy
The Lab is intended as an educational resource, including for beginners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 for marketing purposes, and we do not create marketing profiles of children. Parents or educators with questions may contact admin@trailbuildersinc.org.
9. Your choices and requests
- Do not submit passwords, secret keys, or sensitive personal information into the Lab or any form.
- You may clear locally stored Lab data through your browser settings.
- You may email us to request information about form submissions we hold, or to request deletion of information we control, at admin@trailbuildersinc.org.
- Donation records held by Givebutter are subject to Givebutter’s processes in addition to any request you send us.
10. Retention and security
We retain form and related records only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when a change is posted. Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
